A number of Parenting programs have been shown to be effective in Australia, including:
Alcohol and Drug Foundation Parenting Module
The ADF’s LDAT Parenting Module has been developed and piloted with LDATs as part of the LDAT Program. It is an easy to use, off the shelf module that provides you with everything you need to deliver a high-quality parenting program in your local community. It has been designed to be worked through in sequential order – just follow the steps to plan and deliver your program.

Triple P – Positive Parenting
Triple P - Positive Parenting promotes nurturing relationships between parents and children, aged 0-16 years, by fostering parents’ knowledge, skills and confidence.1 The main Triple P program consists of five increasingly intense interventions. For example, Level 1 provides general information and advice for all parents while Level 5 provides intensive support for families with complex issues.1

Stepping Stones
Triple P Stepping Stones is a variation of Triple P for parents of children aged 2–12 years with a disability and behavioural problems.

Triple P Online
Triple P Online is available for parents of children aged 0-11, as well as a pre-teens and teens version for parents of children aged 10-16. It includes videos, workbooks, tips, and activities.

1-2-3 Magic
1-2-3 Magic is for parents of children under 12 years. It divides the parenting responsibilities into three straightforward tasks: controlling negative behaviour, encouraging good behaviour, and strengthening the child-parent relationship.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy is designed for parents of children aged 2-7 years. Instructs parents in communication skills and encourages them to reinforce positive behaviours and reduce negative behaviours.

The ADF’s Parenting Module has been designed and developed with LDATs for the LDAT Program.
However, there are other accessible, evidence-based programs that LDATs can utilise, such as those listed above.
As Triple P has a national footprint and a range of programs that would interest large numbers of people, LDATs could approach Triple P to investigate how the two parties can collaborate. LDATs could also consider programs like 1-2-3 Magic and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy if they are more suitable.
